After my house…Tagtime at Stampotique

Aftermyhouse

This tag was made using the Stampotique Great Moon, Spiderweb, and sentiment from Dylusions by Dyan Reaveley. I just love her sentiments, some and quirky, some are fun…she also has some more serious sets. I started by cutting the tag with the Tim Holtz Tag die template. Then I spread distress stains on my teflon sheet and sprayed with a bit of water, then smooshed (not a word, I know..lol) the tag through it a few times until I had the look I wanted. I dried it with a heat gun, and then distressed the edges. The moon and sentiment were both stamped on patterned paper, cut out, then distressed. I ran the ribbon through the same ink I had leftover from the tag, wrinkled it into a ball, then dried with my heat gun. You have to be a bit careful doing this…it can start smoking pretty fast, and I am thinking it could start on fire if you aren’t careful. In the end I did put a tiny touch of yellow Stickles on the star.

Remember When…

Hi there,

I have been doing a bit of stamping lately. I have a card to share with you today. My card is using all Stampsmith stamps.

StampsmithShirley

The main image is a photo stamp of Shirley Temple. The sentiment is from the Say It Like It Is plate. You can find them both here at The Stampsmith website. I started by stamping Shirley on white glossy c/s, then using Phototwin markers, I coloured in her shirt and her lips. I then distressed the photo, and all the layers. I used flower dies from MFT to do the rolled flowers, and a Martha Stewart punch for the ferns. Oh, and the card shape was done with the Grand Labels 1. The background paper is from the new Webster’s Pages line called Western Romance. I actually bought the whole pack of 25 because it’s so gorgeous, then I can use it and not hoard it! lol

Thank you so much for stopping by, and have a great day,

Hugs,

Kim

Naughty is the new Nice!

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to share a tag I made this evening. It was so fun to get all inky and messy! I used a huge amount of Glimmer Mists and Distress Inks on a piece of white cardstock, that was run through an embossing folder, to create the background. Then I used 2 stamps from Viva Las Vegastamps! The woman image, Lady with Fan, as well as the sentiment, Naughty is the new nice. Both are stamped with Ancient Page coal black ink, then distressed. After this was done I sprayed some lace, ribbon, and ribbon flowers with more glimmer mists, then adhered to the tag. I decided to cut the sentiment apart so I could use a part of it on top and at the bottom of the tag.

VLVSNaughty

The background of this tag shimmers like you would not believe. I know you can’t tell in the photo though.

Memories

VivaMemories
I was going to submit this card for a Design Team tryout, but I missed the midnight deadline, but thought I would share my card with you all anyway. I had such fun making this card! I started out stamping the Armchair Lovers from Viva Las Vegastamps, then stamped the image again on patterned paper, and cut out the chair. I then paper pieced it onto the first image. The image was coloured with Copic Markers, and everything was distressed using Tim Holtz Distress Inks. The sentiment is a rub-on, and the hearts and flowers are punches. The gem in the center of the flower is a Sparklet from Kaisercraft! LOVE them! The patterned paper is from Pink Paislee. Oh, and the doily is a Cheery Lynn die, omgosh, gorgeous.
Thank you so much for stopping by, I really appreciate it!

Both of us can’t look good…Viva Las Vegastamps

Hi Everyone,

I have a wall hanging to share with you today that I made for my studio door.  I wanted something girly that would also make my husband laugh. I started out with a piece of chipboard, painted the back of it, then used Miracle Tape to apply designer paper to the front of the chipboard. I then sanded the edges and distressed them with Tim Holtz Distress Inks. The Pretty Lady in Pearls was stamped with Rich Cocoa Brown Momento inks, then heat set for just a quick second. She is colored in with Copic Markers. The sentiment "Both of us can't look good at the same time...It's either me or the house", can be found here. the  To finish it all off, I used some Nestibilities to cut the layers for the Pretty Lady, mounted her on the chipboard and added some flowers. The sentiment is cut up and distressed and then mounted on the chipboard. I then added a couple pearl flourishes.

All stamps used can be found at Viva Las Vegastamps.

I had such a wonderful time while away on vacation, but ended up staying almost an extra month! After I visited the kids and the rest of my family, I went to visit my husband, who left at the beginning of June for work. He is still in Victoria now, hopefully he will come home soon! I do have pictures to share, and will do that sometime soon. I miss my grandbabies so much, they are both so sweet and adorable, and so very happy.

Thank you so much for stopping by today,

American Express Called…

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for dropping by. I am so excited to show you a new card for Viva Las Vegastamps! I love this woman image, she looks so haughty, and the sentiment with her makes me giggle. I have so much fun with these sentiments.

VLVSRETAKE

The lady is called Pretty Lady in Fancy Hat and she can be found here. The sentiment used is called American Express Called and can be found here. The image and sentiment were stamped on high gloss paper, then painted in with tombows using watercolour paintbrush and water. The card was assembled using Miracle Tape. There are so many widths of tapes to choose from and even sheets, and if you haven't tried it yet, you will NOT be disappointed!

Sure I shot the Sheriff–Viva Las Vegastamps!

Thank you for stopping by today.'  Here is  another project using the fabulous Viva Las Vegastamps! I decided to use the Sure I shot the Sheriff stamp, because I have a warped sense of humour! When I saw this stamp it just made me chuckle, and I knew I had to have it.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
The image (Sure I shot the Sheriff - Image 15080)   is stamped on vanilla cardstock with chocolate Ancient Page ink, and then cut out with deckle edged scissors. I then lightly distressed the edges of the stamped image as well as the patterned paper behind it. All layers are put together with Miracle Tape, and lastly the stamped image is pop dotted up.
Please click on any of the links above to be taken directly to the product used, and while you are there, stay and browse awhile at all the FANTASTIC images at Viva Las Vegastamps.
On another note, we are finally settled into our new place in Montreal. We are actually just outside of Montreal, a bit out of the hustle and bustle, which is nice. It was awesome tonight to sit down and create something in my new stamping space. I registered to take a stamping class at a local store tomorrow, in hopes of meeting some new stamping friends here. I am really missing all my girls in Halifax, more than they know.
Well, off to bed for me! Thank you for stopping by, and I will hopefully be posting on a regular basis again!

Beautiful Woman–Viva Las Vegastamps

Hi There,

Thank you so much for stopping by today. My project today features a beautiful woman's face, from Viva Las Vegastamps!, (#5908) on the front cover of a book I made! The book has chipboard covers, but the rest is patterned paper and envelopes. I had a blast making this, and will be making more for sure. This book was put together using Miracle Tape from Viva Las Vegastamps!, if you haven't used this product yet, it's awesome, and, it comes in many different sizes and even sheets.

Stop by Viva Las Vegastamps and have a look at all the awesome stamps over there, you won't be disappointed.

I have to thank Karen up at Photo Memories for teaching us how to make this book!

We are in Montreal now, staying at a hotel, as the condo we are renting was a real mess, and we had to paint. The movers will be here tomorrow and the unpackers come in on Friday. Hopefully by Monday we will be settled in our new place! Woohoo, soon we will have homemade food, and not any restaurant food for a while I hope! lol

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Sweet Little One–Viva Las Vegastamps

Today I made a card using The Little Girl with Doll photo stamp, available at Viva Las Vegastamps. I stamped the image using Ancient Page black ink on glossy cardstock. Photo Twin markers were used to color in a few places on the image. The edges were distressed with Tea Dye ink, I was going for an aged photo look. I just adore this stamp.

Cards2011 002

I am so excited! I know this will make many of you laugh, but I just figured out how to use my Bow Maker!! I don’t know if I will be able to do it again, I think it was a fluke! I always seem to miss a step and my bow falls apart the second I take it off the Bow Maker…oh well, what can I say..lol

Have a great day everyone, and stop by at Viva Las Vegastamps if you haven’t already! There is free shipping for the entire month of April! Woohoooo!!

Hopes and Dreams, and the possibilities of it all….

Last night I finally finished a card that was started last weekend. Kim Blanchette of The Cutting Garden instructed us on how to make this card, and I just love it! It would make a perfect wedding card. We also made a box to put the card in, as the card is quite big and dimensional. We used the Pendant Heart Nestibilities, lots of distress inks and Borderabilities, oh yeah, and tons of pearls! The sentiment is an old one from PSX.

Cards2011 001

I love the soft, romantic feel of this card, and can’t wait to make more! I believe the patterned paper is from Basic Grey.

My desktop computer is broken down, and all my photography programs are on it. Sorry my pictures aren’t that great right now, I didn’t realise how much I depended on Photoshop for editing my photos! It’s so nice to be able to fix the lighting and such. I shouldn’t complain, at least I have my laptop right now! lol

I think most of you know that we are moving to Montreal next week. It’s been a bit crazy around here. I will try to keep posting while we are getting settled, the hotel will have internet. We won’t have internet or phone until May 6th. Luckily it’s a company move and we don’t have to pack, or unpack! Yeah!  But we will have to direct and probably change things around as we get to know our new home.

I have to say I have been totally spoiled living here in Halifax! I have made the most incredible friends, most of whom stamp! We have a fabulous stamp group that gets together once a month. We have the best stamp stores, Photo Memories, Carousel Rubber Stamps, and The Cutting Garden! If you haven’t been to these stores, you are in for a real treat! It is so very beautiful here, living right across from the ocean. Yes, we were lucky to live here and get to know this beautiful province of Nova Scotia! I am going to miss everyone and everything so much! I also look forward to our new journey in Montreal. Life is what you make of it!

Thank you so much for stopping by, and have a great day!

The Easter Bunny is almost here!

Ah…the memories of Easter. I used to love hiding all the Easter eggs, and watching the kids searching everywhere in the house to find them. Then their chocolate covered faces after the devoured some of it! I really miss those days. My Grandbabies are too young for this yet, but can’t wait until they do the same.

This is one of the cards I made over at Dejah’s store last weekend. I normally don’t do Easter cards, but since I live so far away, I wanted to send Zachary and Charleigh a card.

Cards2011 011

This one is for Charleigh. There is so much glitter on this card, I wish I had been able to get a better picture, so you could see it. The stamp is from House Mouse. Isn’t she cute? We used the new Labels 20, LOVE THEM! Of course I came home with them! lol

Cards2011 025

I made this one for Zachary. I don’t normally do this syle of card, but I had a blast making these for the kids! Lots of shimmer and shine on this card too.

Have a great evening, and thank you so much for dropping by!

True Friendship

I went to a class taught by Val, and this is one of the cards we made. I have all the stamps, but have never come up with a clever idea like this! lol

Cards2011 019

We stamped the image and sentiment on kraft cardstock, then ripped and distressed with vintage photo distress inks. The background paper is so gorgeous, all we did to that was distress the edges. The circles are from Graphic 45, I just love them! Then we added a few black pearls to the card. I really like this card, love the vintage feel.

Thanks for stopping by today,

Kim

She pursued Big dreams…

Hi there,

Last weekend we had our monthly ladies stamping group. It was my turn to think up a project for us to do. So, I decided to show the ladies how to use distress inks on your teflon sheet, and then spray with water, and drag your paper through. You can keep doing this to deepen the colours. After we did this, we dried the paper and distressed it and then distressed the next layer as well. Omgosh, it was so noisy, I brought my Zutter Distressing machine! Thank goodness Joan’s hubby was out, or I am sure he would have kicked this noisy bunch out of his house!! We had a blast! The stamp set we used is from Unity, and I just love it. After the card was assembled, we used a sparkle spray on it, and in real life it shimmers like crazy, but I couldn’t capture that in the photo. I had a bit of a hard time, as this is my last crafty night with the girls, as we are moving in a couple weeks now. Sad smile Have I mentioned how much I am going to miss everyone? lol

Cards2011 003

The next card we did was instructed by Val. We made a corset card. I love this! We cut out the template and traced it, and traced the back for the card as well. We added lace and pearls, and did some stamping with a Tim Holtz stamp. I wish I had distressed the edges, but I can still do that! Thank you so much Val! Love this card!

What would YOU do for a Klondike Bar?

I am so excited today! This is my first official post as a Design Team member for Viva Las Vegastamps! When I saw these stamps, The Woman and the Sentiment, I had to have them! I was laughing at the ideas that came to me for a card.

Cards2011 014

I started off by stamping the woman image on glossy paper with Ancient Page Black Coal ink. I then coloured her in with a watercolour brush, a bit of water, and Tombow markers. She was then cut out and sponged with distress inks. She is layered on patterned paper, then the sentiment was stamped on the same paper, then cut out, and layered on. If you can't see the sentiment well, it says, " I'm ashamed of what I did for a Klondike Bar". LOL, this just makes me giggle. I love how she is looking up and holding herself, like she really is contemplating what she did! I also used Miracle Tape from Viva Las Vegastamps to hold the card together! Wow, that stuff is amazingly strong! I can see myself using it for all sorts of different things. If you click on any of the highlighted words in this post, you will be taken to the Viva Las Vegastamps website, and to the stamps I used.

The designers will be posting on the Viva Las Vegastamps Blog weekly, so drop by and have a look!

Have a wonderful day, and thank you so much for stopping by!

Have a drink on me….Viva Las Vegastamps

It was a friends birthday yesterday, and I had a card all made for him! The perfect guy card! What man doesn’t like beer? lol

VLVS1

The mug of beer, Moosehead beer logo and the sentiment I put inside are all available at Viva Las Vegastamps! The sentiment inside says, “ 24 hours in a day. 24 beer in a case. Coincidence?” I thought he would get a kick out of that for sure.

The beer mug was embossed in black, and then coloured in using Copic Markers. I put a bit of glossy accents on the water drops on the outside of the mug. I couldn’t decide what to use for the foam on the beer, and ended up using Flower Soft. I thought it looks kind of foamy, looks good in person! lol I made the background on white cardstock, using distress inks, and stains. The stains are new to me, and will take a bit of practice. I used them on the diamond background, directly on the stamp.

No fussiness on this card…was hard to leave it and not add anything else. I find it so challenging to make Man cards! lol

Have a wonderful day and thank you so much for stopping by today,

Kim

Viva Las VegaStamps Design Team tryout!

Hi there,

Today I am submitting a couple of my cards for the Design Team tryouts at Viva Las VegaStamps! If you would like more info, or would like to check out their incredible (huge) catalogue, please click on the logo below!

vivalasvegasstamps

Now onto my cards! I had so much fun creating both of these cards. We are to pick out 2 of our best projects to show in this post. These are amongst my favorites, so I hope you like them.

Igivemyhusband_thumb[1]

I just love the quirky sentiments available at Viva Las VegaStamps! To start with I stamped the woman image, and coloured her in. She was then cut out and put aside for a little bit! lol I used a wave cutter to create the ground. I then adhered this to a piece of Basic Grey paper, then onto a base of brown c/s. I stamped the flower stems, which is the bottom of an arrow stamp, added my punched flowers and added Dew Drops to the centers of the flowers. Lastly I stamped the sentiment on the Basic Grey paper, and layered it twice on c/s, and adhered to the card. This card makes me laugh every time I look at it, and my husband chuckled when he saw and and agreed!! Awww…its’s really not true at all, I love cooking!

Mirabel [50%]

For my second card, I chose a photo stamped card! I just love photo stamps, and didn’t realize what a vast selection they have at Viva Las VegaStamps! For this card I started with making my card base. I used plain c/s, and then adhered a piece of Bo Bunny paper on top. I then stamped a small swirl around the outside of the card. To stamp this image, I used glossy paper, and stamped the image with Black Ancient Page inks. I will repost a tutorial I have on my blog for instructions on stamping photo images and colouring them in. After I coloured the image in with Tombow markers using a watercolour brush, and I used distress inks on the image, to make it appear a bit more vintage. Flowers were then punched and adhered to the card, and pearls were added to the centers.

Photo Stamping Tutorial

I decided to put this on my blog, as I still get so many emails asking for instructions on how to use Photo Stamps! I know everyone has a different way of doing things, but this is what works best for me, and how I have been teaching people in classes. I hope this helps anyone that is having troubles!

Supplies needed:

Photo Stamp

Glossy Cardstock
Ancient Page Inks
Phototwin Markers
Tombow Markers
Watercolor Brush
Foam Pad to stamp on
D/S Tape (double sided tape)
Masking Tape
Distress Inks

First and foremost, I wash my unmounted rubber stamps in the sink with dishsoap. I then lay them on a lint free towel to dry. When they are dry and I am going to use an image, I use masking tape to remove any little pieces of lint or glitter that have managed to get on the stamp. I mount the stamp on an acrylic block, using d/s tape. I also check my ink pad, and if there is lint on it, I use the masking tape to remove it as well.

I have 2 ancient page black ink pads, one is about 4 years old and doesn't have much ink. The other is new so it's well inked. I first go over the image with the old pad, if I don't have enough ink, I go over it with the new pad. Then I take the old pad, and it's like I am inking the stamp, but I am actually removing some of the excess ink. If you have to much ink the image will be splotchy. The nice part about using the 2 inks pads, is that the old one removes a bit of ink, and will probably have a perfect amount of ink for the next time I ink up a photo stamp image! If you just have the 1 ancient page ink pad, just swipe some of the ink off over a piece of paper. To much ink is not a good thing!

I put my glossy paper on top of a foam stamping pad. I then press the image down on the glossy, firmly. I make sure I press on all the corners, as well as the middle of the stamp. I do this for about 20 seconds, then leave it sitting on the paper for about 30 seconds. Then I give it another firm press and slowly remove the stamp from the glossy paper. If you are still getting splotches, you may have a bit too much ink on your stamp, so try a bit less next time.

I then heat set the image with the heat gun. Then I swipe a few colors of markers on a piece of plastic. Get my watercolor brush damp, and pick up a bit of color with the brush, and paint the image in. The phototwin markers are so soft, and lend themselves so nicely to photo stamped images. But for any darker colors I use the Tombow markers, but any water based markers will do the trick. Just make sure you are removing most of the water from your brush before you start painting the image in or your paper will warp. I just use a napkin and press my watercolor brush lightly onto the napkin before I pick up some of the colour from the markers.

If you aren't up to trying the watercolor technique, you can just use the distress inks and a stipple brush to add some colour to your image! Or even just rub the distress inks on the edges to give them a more vintage type look.

I have been using the photo stamps for many years now, and have taken everyone’s advice and kind of mixed it all together to get the results I am looking for. This seems to work for me!

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope your day is wonderful,

Smile

Oh Baby! Viva Las VegaStamps!

I made this card for a friend, good thing he got a chuckle out of it! lol  The main image is from Viva Las VegaStamps, isn’t she sexy? Anyway, she is stamped on a piece of basic grey paper, then I used Nestibilities to frame her, and distressed the edges a bit. The card base was stamped around the edges with a tree stamp from Hero Arts. I just used the top of the tree. There is a little corset on the ribbon, I thought it needed a little something.

ohbaby2 [50%]

Now for the inside of the card…..uh-oh

I know it’s a naughty card, but I sure had fun making it!

If you have a chance, check out the Viva Las VegaStamps!! They have a HUGE variety and something for everyone! They are also looking for a new Design Team, why not try out?

Listen to your heart

Hi Everyone,

I know it’s been a while since I have posted!  Life gets in the way at times. I have been making a lot of cards, but, I have forgotten to take pictures!! I made my son and his fiancé 88 baby announcements, and am just about finished making them 50 thank you cards! I did get some play time in yesterday though, and these are what I came up with!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I am really loving this cuttlebug background. I just rubbed tea dye distress ink over it. The stamps used are from the Tim Holtz line of stamps.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I have to say, this combination of alcohol inks has to be my favourite! I used Denim, Stream and Silver. All stamps again are from the Tim Holtz line.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Here I have swiped distress inks on my Teflon sheet, and misted with water. Then put the white c/s down and lifted, then heat set. After I stamped the images, I spritzed the whole card with Shimmer Sparkle. It’s so sparkly in real life! Colours of distress inks used in this were Worn Lipstick and Spiced Marmalade. Again, stamps used are from the Tim Holtz line.

Now for a couple pictures of my handsome and beautiful grandchildren! lol

Here is a cheeky picture of my grandson Zachary, hanging out in his bumbo chair. I just love the look on his face! Isn’t he just so handsome? Zachary is going to be a heartbreaker for sure!

Zachary

Here is a picture of my granddaughter Charleigh. She is such a little sweetheart. I just love the little smile on her face. She is so precious! I think she is going to steal a few hearts!

Charleigh

Thank you so much for stopping by for a visit today.

Hugs,

My Princess

Hi Everyone,

I haven’t been stamping much, but am going to give it a go tonight! I did want to share a picture with you though! Shawn and Brittany had some pictures taken of their family, and this one of Charleigh is so precious, I have to share it with you!

165558_496651239522_507194522_5783510_1748992_n

Charleigh just makes me smile, she is so precious and beautiful!

Thank you for stopping by, and I hope to have some stamping photos to share very soon!

Saturday

Oh my dear…

I had such a chuckle when I saw this stamp! I finally got to use it. The theme this week at Stampotique Designer Challenge was to mask. I first stamped “dear” on my white c/s and then stamped her on white scrap paper. Cut the scrap one out and layered it on top of the one on my card. I then used a piece of sequin waste as a mask and dabbed pink and green inks on. I then removed the “dear” mask and coloured her in with Copic markers. I added a touch of Viva Decor glossy black in the centers of the flowers for dimension. All images are from Stampotique.

Happy Snowman Frame!

I made a couple of these little frames and gave them as Christmas cards this year…or last year I should say.  All stamps are from Stampotique and the frame was bought at Micheals. It was really fun and easy to do!

I know it’s late for me to be posting this stuff, but we have had a crazy month or so! Life gets in the way at times!! More projects to come!
